High-volume air samplers are also deployed on the site, pictured below.
Air monitoring is conducted to conform to applicable Ontario Ministry of Environment guidance. Total Suspended Particles (TSP) samples are collected by means of high-volume air samplers (small box) drawing air through quartz fibre filters. Fine Particle Matter (PM2.5) is monitored using a high-volume air sampler with a PM2.5 selective head (mushroom head), also drawing air through quartz fibre filters.

PHAI dust monitoring at the Access Road site concluded on August 30, 2011.
At that time, the road base had been completed and the site prepared with top soil. The remaining work on the Access Road - paving and laying sod - will not include dust-generating activities. The construction on the east side of Toronto Road is municipal work related to the Port Hope Business Park.
