Craig Hebert, PHAI Management Office GM, provided Municipality of Port Hope Council, and members of the public who were in attendance at the May 17 Council meeting, with a virtual tour of project progress. Through his slide presentation, Hebert described the work that will take place at the long-term waste management facility as construction of Cell 1 of the engineered aboveground mound begins this spring, which will clear the way for the cleanup of historic low-level radioactive waste in the community once the cell is ready to receive waste in 2018. Hebert also highlighted the evolution of the Port Hope Project Waste Water Treatment Plant from the bench-scale and pilot-scale testing that led to the best-available technology installed at the plant, which will be fully operational this fall.
