Safely transporting waste during Port Granby Project cleanup

PGP weigh portal

Before leaving the existing Port Granby Waste Management Facility site, trucks transporting historic low-level radioactive waste pass through a vehicle portal monitor and weigh station, which tracks waste volumes and measures radiation. The trucks then follow the internal haul road through the Lakeshore Road underpass to the new long-term management facility where the waste is placed in the highly engineered aboveground mound for long-term safe storage. No waste travels on public roads.
