PUBLIC NOTICE – Port Hope, June 20, 2024

UPDATE: Information from Port Hope Police Services indicate the artefact found was a plastic replica. All restrictions have been lifted and there is no risk to public safety.


On June 20, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m. a CNL contractor identified a historical military ordnance in the bucket of an excavator during PHAI work at the Highland Drive Landfill. Appropriate back out procedures were followed, and work has been stopped at the site. Port Hope Police are currently on site and have control of the scene. CNL is fully cooperating with police while their investigation is underway.
