Another successful year at the fair

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) staff spoke with more than 250 people from Port Hope and beyond at the Port Hope Fall Fair this year, answering questions and providing updates on the work taking place in Port Hope and Port Granby as part of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI).

“For 17 years, participating in the Fall Fair has been one of the highlights of our communications program”, stated Alex Mahabir, CNL Director of Communications & Stakeholder Relations, “It is always a great opportunity for us to speak with residents and visitors one-on-one about the projects and ongoing activities.

In addition to photos, videos and diagrams explaining the work taking place in the Port Hope community, this year’s booth featured a large-scale map of Port Hope and visitors were invited to ‘plant a flag’ to mark where they live, which proved to be a very popular activity.

CNL employs a wide variety of public outreach approaches to ensure the local community and broader public have up-to-date information about the Port Hope and Port Granby including participation in community events like the annual fair.

In November a public information session will be held in Port Hope to update the community on project progress – details will be posted on our website and our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account.

CNL staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to provide information and answer questions at our office at 115 Toronto Road, by phone at 905.885.0291 or by email at [email protected].
