Know your PHAI Contractor

Safety of the residents, the wider community and the environment remain priorities for CNL. This holds true in cases where workers may need to complete work at or in residences. Please note that there are a number of contractors supporting Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) activities at various stages of the cleanup process.

Here are a few ways to identify staff working on the PHAI.

  1. Ask for the SITE ID number for your property. Private and residential properties are assigned a confidential SITE ID for the purpose of property identification. SITE ID numbers are included on all property owner correspondence sent by CNL. If you don’t know your SITE ID, contact CNL. You will be asked for verification information before receiving the information.
  2. Ask to see the contractor’s identification badge. Make note of the name of the person and the company they represent.
  3. Ask for a PHAI contact information card which are supplied to PHAI contractors to make it easy for residents and property owners to get additional project information.
  4. Contact the CNL Port Hope office, open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 25 Henderson St. Port Hope, to verify the contractor’s request.

If you are unsure, feel unsafe or have questions refer the person making requests to the CNL office. Contractors do not contact property owners on the weekend, except in rare cases. If property information or testing is required, CNL staff generally provide notification by phone, voicemail or email in advance of a visit.

Please ensure CNL has your most up-to-date contact information by calling 905.885.0291 or emailing [email protected].
