NOTICE OF UPCOMING WORK – Chemetron Lagoon

As part of Port Hope Area Initiative activities, our contractor will be performing initial site preparations at the Chemetron Lagoon in the fall of 2022. This will require a short-term closure of the Sculthorpe Marsh parking lot to safely facilitate some of these activities. Additional notice will be provided for this temporary closure.

In early 2023, the contractor will mobilize to remove the industrial waste in the Chemetron Lagoon. Water from the site will be transported to the Port Hope

Long-Term Waste Management Facility (PH LTWMF) for treatment using the designated transportation route. This work also includes the transportation of waste to the PH LTWMF, as well as third party waste facilities. This activity is expected to be completed in 2024.

There are no road closures planned, however there will be increased truck traffic in the area. Please obey any posted signage.
