NOTICE OF UPCOMING WORK – Lions Recreation Centre Park

As part of Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) activities, our contractor is removing industrial waste and historic low-level radioactive waste from the Lions Recreation Centre Park site through 2023.

Access to Ross Street will be reduced for a period of two weeks in mid-August to facilitate this work. Please exercise caution in the area and obey all posted signage.

Ongoing work includes sheet piling, excavation and backfilling prior to restoration.

Access to the Lions Hall, Legion and parking lot remains, with Thomas Street closed at the parking area and only accessible from Walton Street.

The Lions Recreation Centre Park is one of several municipally owned sites that are being cleaned up and restored through the PHAI.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is committed to the safety of the public, its workers and the environment while undertaking this community-requested solution to a longstanding environmental issue.
