As part of Port Hope Area Initiative activities, CNL contractors will be performing field work on Sherbourne Street.
To facilitate the safe excavation, truck loading and transportation of low-level radioactive waste, a section of the north side of the road will be closed beginning mid-April continuing through June 2026. The sidewalk is anticipated to remain open and accessible during the work.
Due to the topography of the road, additional safety measures of temporary stop lights will be erected in both directions.
Flaggers will also assist with traffic control when necessary. Please be careful when travelling in the area and obey all posted signage.
Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is committed to the safety of the public, its workers and the environment while undertaking this community-requested solution to a longstanding environmental issue.
