PHAI activities during current Stay-At-Home order

All field activities currently underway in Port Hope and Port Granby as part of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) will continue under the Ontario government’s Stay-at-Home order now in effect.

PHAI work being performed by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is considered essential under the current Ontario regulations. Remote workers will continue to work from home until the order is lifted.

PHAI activities are performed in keeping with strict protocols specifically related to COVID-19. With these robust measures and CNL oversight in place, we are confident our contractors and staff can conduct work safely. For the continued safety of all members of the public, including residents at properties being cleaned up, please connect with us virtually (instead of in person) via [email protected] or 905.885.0291.

PHAI work is guided by the following principles:

  • Employees will continue to work remotely wherever possible.
  • Fieldwork will be regularly assessed to ensure the benefits continue to outweigh any potential risks.
  • Hazards will be identified and controls defined and implemented effectively in advance of starting work, and continuously as work progresses.

CNL continues to closely monitor provincial requirements and the risks related to COVID-19. We urge everyone to follow the direction of public health officials, including maintaining physical distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing face coverings, and other directives as they evolve.

We encourage our workers to be vaccinated when eligible and our wider community to take extra care to protect themselves and their families during this pandemic.

Stay safe.
