PHAI contracting opportunities highlighted at Virtual Industry Day

More than 50 members of the Canadian nuclear supply chain joined Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) at its Virtual Industry Day in December 2020. The event provided vendors an opportunity to interact with CNL staff, promote their capabilities and expertise, and learn about potential business opportunities with CNL.

During two dedicated breakout sessions, attendees from 17 businesses joined staff representing the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) to find out more about doing PHAI business. Specific interest was expressed in current schedules for the Port Hope and Port Granby projects as well as the impact of COVID-19 on schedules and any related delays.

Like many organizations, CNL and PHAI activities have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and all current field work requires additional measures for public and worker safety, specifically related to the pandemic. Significant effort has been made in planning current and future activities to meet overall scheduled timelines and CNL continues to advance the project by remote work where possible.

Upcoming PHAI contracts include cleaning supplies, rug rentals, moving services, tree cutting, radon mitigation and arborist services. All open Request for Proposal postings are accessible through MERX.

CNL offers resources to help businesses connect to upcoming contract opportunities and navigate the procurement processes to work on the PHAI. Contractors should ensure their information is kept up to date on the Port Hope Chamber contractor portal; for more information on doing business with CNL visit https://www.phai.ca/en/home/careers-contract-opportunities/default.aspx and https://www.cnl.ca/en/home/vendor_portal/default.aspx.
