CNL work resumes at residential sites in Port Hope this spring/summer

Through the Port Hope Area Initiative, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is responsible for the safe cleanup of historic low-level radioactive waste in Port Hope.

Throughout the spring and summer, you may see and/or hear:

  • Installation of construction fencing around work sites and placement of construction trailers
  • Site preparations including tree clearing/chipping and removal of hardscape material such as patio stones and interlocking brick
  • Demolition and/or removal of sheds, decks, outbuildings and fences
  • Excavation of soil and backfilling with clean soil.

To ensure public safety and facilitate the work, temporary road closures may be required.

For up-to-date information on road closures and project progress, visit PHAI.ca or follow Port Hope Area Initiative on Facebook and Twitter.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is committed to the safety of the public, its workers and the environment while undertaking this community-requested solution to a longstanding environmental issue.
