UPCOMING WORK – Former Coal Gasification Site

As part of Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) activities, our contractor will be undertaking work at the former the Coal Gasification site at John St. and Alexander St.

Some of the work completed may come in close proximity to private property lines.

You may see the following:

  • Utility locating
  • Borehole marking and sampling
  • Hydroexcavation
  • Traffic control signage

The work is expected to be performed in July 2023. No road closures are expected, however Alexander St. may be reduced to one lane or have temporary lane closures. Please obey flag-people and all signage.

The Coal Gasification site is one of several municipally owned sites that are being cleaned up and restored through the PHAI, including the replanting of trees and other vegetation.
