CNL work continues at residential sites in Port Hope

CNL contractors are undertaking construction work throughout various neighbourhoods at residential properties where historic low-level radioactive waste has been identified.

During this work you may see and/or hear:

  • Installation of construction fencing around the properties and placement of a construction trailer in the vicinity
  • Site preparations including tree clearing/chipping and removal of patio stones, interlocking brick and other hardscape material
  • Removal and/or demolition of sheds, decks, outbuildings and fencing
  • Excavation of soil from yards and backfilling with clean soil

No road closures are expected; however, there may be temporary lane closures in the construction area. Dust monitoring and noise monitoring is in place for the duration of the work.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is committed to the safety of the public, its workers and the environment while undertaking this community-requested solution to a longstanding environmental issue.
