Public Invited to October 19 Info Session on Port Hope Project

Info-Session-slider_2Port Hope, Ont. (October 10, 2017) –The Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) will host a public information session on Thursday, October 19 to update the community about the Port Hope Project for the cleanup and long-term safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste.

Members of the public are invited to drop in to the Port Hope Lions Centre from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to talk with staff about all aspects of the project, including the final campaign for radiological testing of Port Hope properties, the remediation of properties where waste is identified and the safe transportation of waste through the community. Engineering staff will be on hand to discuss the ongoing construction of the engineered aboveground storage mound, and environmental technicians will give dust and noise monitoring demonstrations. The information session will also feature information about CNL job opportunities and a model of the long-term waste management facility and aboveground engineered mound.

Light refreshments will be available. The Port Hope Lions Centre is located at 29 Thomas Street, Port Hope.
