Environmental Protection in Action

It was truly a team effort when once again CNL staff members and contract partners from WSP and Arcadis working on the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) gathered to participate in Earth Week cleanups around town and near job sites.

The team gathered along the shores of the waterfront in Port Hope and along Henderson Street surrounding the CNL offices to collect debris. Working together, the team collected and safely disposed of over 500 pounds of trash in total. The waste mainly consisted of cigarette butts, plastic, micro-plastics, and food wrappers.

The cleanups were organized by the CNL Port Hope Social Club as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Challenge. A special thank you to the entire team who helped to organize and safely execute this annual event.

The cleanup was a key part of showcasing CNL’s core values in environmental stewardship and protection. Protection of the environment as a key priority is demonstrated in the removal of historic low-level radioactive waste and safely transporting it into long-term storage.
