Port Hope

While performing restoration activities as part of Port Hope Area Initiative work on a municipally owned lot on November 13, a skid steer backed into a hydro pole. As a result, the pole leaned over the adjacent Hayward Street and power was lost at the neighbouring PHAI work site.

No injuries occurred, and the hydro service provider was contacted to undertake repairs. Port Hope police were on site to manage traffic during work that restored power to the electrical lines, which were undamaged. The leaning hydro pole will be repaired or replaced.

CNL notified the appropriate regulatory agencies, including the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and the Municipality of Port Hope. The PHAI contractor performing the restoration work reported the incident to the Ministry of Labour.
