During restoration activities for the Port Hope Area Initiative on September 16, 2025, work around an identified gas line caused a small leak. Workers performed a safe back out, with work on site halted. Municipal emergency services attended site and neighbours were notified. The gas provider immediately responded and made repairs to the line. There were no injuries resulting from this event.
This was not a reportable incident to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) as there was no licenced activity underway at the site. The Municipality of Port Hope was informed.
Safety remains a top priority, and appropriate corrective measures are being implemented.
