Port Hope

During a routine inspection at the Port Hope Harbour site on July 11, a worker noted a gasoline leak from a docked boat in the inner harbour. The cause of the leak was identified as a faulty fitting.

On detection, workers immediately used hydrophobic booms and absorbent pads to successfully recover the gasoline.  The pads and boom were disposed of following appropriate handling procedures.

Actions were also immediately taken to fix the fitting and there were no further issues or leaks detected.

CNL notified the appropriate regulatory agencies, including the Ontario Spills Action Centre and the Municipality of Port Hope.

At no time was there a risk to the safety of workers, the public or the environment.
